You need to plan ahead and cater for all your requirements for at least five years as the wardrobe is not something you change for a long while.
If all your stuff cannot be organised into wardrobe and storage space of some sort, it doesn't really matter how great your bed design is or how exceptional the interior of the bedroom is.
The room will always like a cluttered disorganised space. Either that , or you will storing most of your things in suitcases or cramping your wardrobe space.

In terms of designing the interior of your wardrobe, if you find you are not clear about the aspects, consult a professional. It is important that the person designing your wardrobe interior understands your lifestyle and your needs. I generally ask clients to list out all the various elements of their wardrobe ( current), their possible add-ons/requirements, and their future possibilities. In addition I get ballpark figures for most of their clothing. It is a questionnaire of sorts but helps me assess how much space is required for a specific item. For example, one client of mine just had an insane amount of shoes and handbags. The clothes were less of a problem :)
Space is almost 'always' a constraint because we buy more than we usually need !!! So, the trick is to figure out the space in a way that suits an individual. Which is why I believe a wardrobe is best designed to suit an individual.
